I recently went to a Pediatric Osteopathy Conference and one of the lecturers (Dr. Jayne Donegan) showed us this chart. It is the NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) ‘Traffic light system for identifying risk of serious illness’. I think this chart is brilliant, I wish I had it when my children were younger and I was up late in the night while they had a high fever wondering how serious it was. I think every new parent should be given it, so here it is for you to use;
This traffic light table should be used in conjunction with the recommendations in the NICE guideline on fever in under 5s.
